Hi everyone,
On behalf of the new ACTBA Committee, I would like to thank the previous committee (under the leadership of Stuart Ingram) for all their hard work, tenacity and support of ACT badminton activities in particular the tournaments, supporting clubs with memberships and insurance, sponsoring teams and providing the community with opportunities to play badminton socially and competitively.
As the new President, I would like to provide a highly inclusive and collaborative committee that supports the needs of our affiliated clubs and their members. I am very passionate about enabling new and innovative ways to engage with all parts of the badminton community and setting up the infrastructure that is sustainable for all stakeholders. I am conscious of the need for ACTBA to undertake their core administrative responsibilities, however, I also believe there is an opportunity to do things differently to enhance our services to the badminton community and enjoyment for all players free from discrimination and bias.
The new committee has already met since the AGM held on Saturday 17 November and discussed a number of key priorities for next year. Please note, the new committee unanimously agreed to cancel the Australia Day Doubles Competition from next year’s calendar due to the public and school holiday period and low player participation rates. I will provide further details on official ACTBA events after consultations with all affiliated clubs in the new year.
