After a hiatus of three years due to COVID restrictions and a lack of suitable and available indoor facilities, the 2023 ACT Open, held at the AIS Basketball Centre over the weekend of 18-19 November 2023, was better than ever. With over 200 players in all four grades (Open to D grade) and with Australia’s No.1 ranked men’s single player (Ricky Tang, NSW) participating, the 2023 ACT Open was an immense success. It was also the first time that BACT was able to offer some prize money for the Open winners. The Open Men’s singles was won by Ricky Tang (No. 1 seed) over the No. 2 seed, Pit Seng Low, in a tight three sets, and the women’s singles was won by Asaka Mori over the ACT’s Anjali Pradip. Congratulations to all those who participated and for all the volunteers who made the event a success, particularly Terry Ho (Tournament Referee), Sheehan Lim (Chief Umpire), Brideen Allen (BACT Match Secretary) and Cassandra Yap (Deputy Match Secretary).
