ACTBA September 2019 Update

Hi Everyone,
Please find below our latest update.

ACT Interclub

The Interclub was held a few weeks back and I am very happy to see that participation in C Grade and D Grade were at capacity with 10 Teams entered in both grades. However, what made me most proud at this year’s Interclub  was the number of female entries which was over 40 players across all 4 grades. The Committee were also keen to encourage interstate clubs to participate, however, the availability and finalisation of a suitable venue made it difficult to provide sufficient time for our interstate players and

Feedback from players, parents and officials has been very positive and I am very proud of the wonderful job the organising Committee has done (under the leadership of Brideen Allen with great support from Alan Kisbee, Sheehan Lim and Aaron Chuah). We had approximately 150 local and interstate players competing and I would like to congratulate everyone who participated and made it such a fun event. The spirit of the

March update from ACTBA Committee

Hi everyone,

The New Year has commenced with a flurry of activity and the Committee has already met twice on 3 February and again 3 March 2019 and discussed a number of initiatives for implementation. To do this we are undertaking a survey in March to understand the needs of our members and how ACTBA can support our affiliated clubs appropriately.

The Committee has made a number of administrative decisions to transition fully to

Welcome to the new ACTBA Committee Members for 2019

Hi everyone,

On behalf of the new ACTBA Committee, I would like to thank the previous committee (under the leadership of Stuart Ingram) for all their hard work, tenacity and support of ACT badminton activities in particular the tournaments, supporting clubs with memberships and insurance, sponsoring teams and providing the community with opportunities to play badminton socially and competitively.

As the new President, I would like to provide a highly inclusive and collaborative committee that supports the needs of our affiliated clubs and their members. I am very passionate about enabling new and innovative ways to engage with all parts

2018 Val Nesbitt Trophy & Australian U15 Championships

On September 28th to October 4th, Aline Souksavat and Cedric Souksavat of Aspire Badminton Club, represented the ACT in the 2018 Val Nesbitt Trophy (team event) and the Australian U15 Championships (individual event). In the team event, they joined the Combined Team and placed 8th. In the individual event, Aline came runners-up in girls doubles with her partner Priska Kustiadi (NSW) in a close three-set match. Great performance from both Aline and Cedric as they represented the ACT at this year’s nationals.
