During the April school holidays, Kaleen Juniors travelled to New Zealand for the U17 Team and Individuals championships. Our juniors combined with players from other states to compete in the June Bevan team event. With 10 teams entered in the event, The Territories team achieved their best ranking to date, finishing fifth overall.
In the Individuals event, our players played well against stronger opponents with many matches going to 3 games. Our best result was a semi-final finish in the Mixed Doubles event.
All players had a memorable U17 carnival where they forged new friendships and learned to compete to the best of their abilities. The players wish to thank Shuen (Coach), Sheehan (Umpire) and Fiona (Manager) for supporting and taking care of the team. They also like to extend their thanks to the NT, NSW and QLD associations for allowing their juniors to compete with the Territories team.
